Charlotte Liposuction

Charlotte liposuction qualfied surgeons use this technique to REFINE the figure, not for overall weight loss. So liposuctions is not some shortcut to becoming thinner without dieting or changing your eating habits.

Small amounts of fat are removed during a liposuction procedure so the patient really does not lose many pounds. What liposuction does do is enable the surgeon to remove excess fat from very specific areas of the body, eliminating stubborn isolated areas of fat for a patient who, if they were overweight, have ALREADY lost the weight.

Liposuction can be used by the surgeon to target the stomach, hips, buttocks, thigh, arms, chin and neck and love handles, among others. In these cases, the patient has lost the weight but, no matter what they do, these areas stubbornly remain. Charlotte liposuction surgeons use instruments that allow them to litterally recontour the patient's body by selecting which areas to remove excess fat from.

By using a suction device, the surgeon is able to literally vacuum out the fat from the problem areas. Often liposuction is also used on men to reduce the size of male breasts by removing fat from the pectoralis area. The people who benefit the most from the procedure, according to several Charlotte liposuction surgeons, are those that have concentrated areas of fat and firm, elastic skin.

This is because the skin needs to contract around the newly reduced area and conform to the new contours to really look good. Since older patients often have skin that is less elastic, they often are not good candidates for this procedure.

It can vary with the size of the treated area, but most patients are able to return to their normal activities in 1 or 2 weeks. It usually takes 2 or 3 months to completely recover from all the effects of having the surgery. A compression garment is normally worn for a few weeks after surgery.

Ultrasound Assisted Liposculpture Surgery

Recently, a new variation on liposuction has appeared that is called Ultrasound-assisted Liposculpture, or "UAL" for short. UAL procedures employ the use of a probe that can give off ultrasonic, high frequency sound. The fat cells next to the sound emitting UAL probe are actually liquified and then removed by suction.

UAL probes do not produce nearly as much bleeding or tissue damage, so the surgeon can actually remove much more fat during the procedure. UAL also has the advantage of leaving less bruising on the patient. Another advantage of UAL is a smoother surface and less contour irregularity than in traditional liposuction.

You should be aware that the UAL technique is recommended only for certain areas of the body, so you should rely on your surgeon to recommend whether is is appropriate for you. The UAL technique can also be more expensive, since the equipment costs significantly more than the traditional type. There are reports of the first two generations of UAL equipment sometimes damaging skin with sound waves that were too powerful. This problem has apparently been resolved on third and later generation machines.

Charlotte liposuction surgeons often recommend a combination of techniques, depending on the patient and the areas of the body treated, so you will probably find this true in your area also.
